Last Night at the Local: Music, Friendship, and a Shout-Out from the Stage
Last night at Bolands had it all—live music, laughter, and an unexpected shout-out for “Pints and Power” from the stage. Some Fridays just turn into stories you’ll be telling for years.

Waking up this morning, I’m still smiling about last night at Boland’s. There’s something special about a Friday night when the music is live, good friends are close, and you’re reminded just how much a single pint can bring people together.
Last night, Shuggy’s sister Niamh—visiting all the way from Ireland with her mom Bridie—stepped up to the mic. With Kristine and Shion alongside her, she absolutely owned her trademark versions of “Landslide” and “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac. The band, Rock in Love, kept the energy high, and the whole pub felt like it was buzzing.
The highlight for me? Niamh giving a shout-out to my upcoming book launch right from the stage. It was one of those moments that catches you by surprise and makes you feel deeply grateful for the support and community that’s grown around “Pints and Power.”
Nights like these are what this project is all about—celebrating the connections, the stories, and the shared love of Irish music, culture, and, of course, a good pint.
Here’s to Niamh, to friends near and far, and to every memory made over a Guinness.
Sláinte!
Mike
